Welcome to the home of the Wandering Dwarf. Beneath my photo to the left you will find links to the two main areas of the website. One is devoted to hiking in North Florida, and the other is all about gaming in the Forgotten Realms. While these may seem like disparate hobbies, I believe both are rooted in my life-long love of fantasy literature: the heroic quest, the epic journey. It's in October, when the temperature in Florida begins to cool, that I always get the urge to head out into the woods; and I when I do, I always think of Frodo setting off in the fall on his long-distance thru-hike.

The Forgotten Realms page has been around for about seven or eight years now. It's on its third web host. I've tweaked the appearance of it, and added content, but it is essentially as it was when I first built it. Its original purpose was to provide a home for a D&D project I was working on to expand on the official description of Daggerdale, and to allow people to access and download gaming maps I had created using Campaign Cartographer. Over the years it has expanded to include a lot more material. Visit the site to see what's there.

Hiking the Florida Panhandle is a more recent addition to the internet. I had worked on creating a hiking website for a number of years, but wanted to make sure I had enough material on it to make it worthwhile. It primarily covers hiking trails within a fifty mile radius of Tallahassee, FL. It's not complete in either breadth or depth, but it's a decent resource for those looking for information within those narrow bounds.

Whichever one you're interested in, I hope you enjoy the site. If you have any feedback, I'd love to hear from you. Send me an email, or leave a comment on the blog. And thanks for dropping in!
